One of the most popular types of accommodation is staying with a local Irish host family or home stay provider. This means you live with the family as a household member and eat and relax with them.We have an excellent pool of host families in Derry. All our host families are selected after meeting the highest of criteria and are visited regularly by our accommodation team.

Our home stay providers are chosen because they are interested in hosting international students and have something to offer each guest staying with them. We take extra care in the selection of families, as we know that the host plays a central role in ensuring that your time spent in Derry is an enjoyable one. The Irish are renowned for their warmth, generosity and friendliness. Staying with an Irish family is a very enjoyable and beneficial way of getting to know Irish people and culture, and of course an excellent way to use and practice your English. You are guaranteed friendly and personal attention throughout your stay.

Home Stay Summary

Your host will provide a bedroom, usually a single room but possibly a twin room (in peak season) with somewhere for you to keep your clothes and belongings. You will have access to all the communal living areas, including the bathroom, living room and kitchen/ dining areas. You will be able to use the laundry facilities and have a change of  towels and bedlinen on a weekly basis. Your host will provide 3 meals per day: breakfast, lunch (usually a packed lunch if you will be out during the day) and evening meal which you eat with the family or host.
