Derry and the North-West of Ireland

Derry is a medium sized city with a population of over 150,000. Situated in the north-west of
Ireland on the banks of the River Foyle as it winds its way to the Atlantic Ocean. Derry, is a centre of culture and creativity, and is now as famous for its confident modern outlook as it is for the timeless quality of its craic.

The Banks of the Foyle Halloween Carnival.Ireland's largest street carnival sees over 40,000 revellers taking to the streets of the city to party past the witching hour.In March the Big Tickle Comedy Festival will certainly put a smile on your face and in April the
cream of international jazz head to Derry for the famous annual City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival. The Celtic European Festival of the Sea in May/June ensures the city's maritime heritage is brought to life on the River Foyle. During the
summer season the city hosts many events including the Foyle Regatta, Gasyard Féile, Foyle Cup, Cycling, Maiden City and Celtronic
Festivals. In November The Foyle Film Festival, the biggest film festival in Northern Ireland, attracts film buffs and many famous names.
These are just a few annual events; the city's great theatres, conference facilities, nightclubs
and bars ensure that there is plenty more happening all year round. Energetic, outward looking and high-spirited, this is truly a city for all
