British Council

Foyle Language School was the first private language school in Northern Ireland to be awarded British Council accreditation. The British Council assesses and monitors the standards of management, resources, premises, teaching and welfare at the school to ensure a high quality service is provided.

We are a registered centre for ‘University of Cambridge examinations’. Students can be prepared for examinations such as the IELTS and can be prepared for and sit Cambridge Examinations and Oxford Cambridge RSA Examinations. We are also a registered centre for the London Chamber of Commerce and London City & Guilds examinations.

Foyle Language School is also recognised by the Department of Education as an English Language School for the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language. We are founder members of the Association of Teacher Training in TEFL (ATT) and we are also a teacher training college for TEFL teachers.

Memberships

We have a two major  pretisgious memberships that propells the regognition of the school internationally, allows us to keep up to date with new markets, helps with training and helps us maintain a high level of quality standards through out the school.

MEI-RELSA is the approved body for marketing, quality and standards of English language learning in Ireland. The organisation is a merger between two previously separate bodies: Marketing English in Ireland (MEI) and the Recognised English Language Schools Association (RELSA).

The member schools of MEI-RELSA are all recognised by the Irish Department of Education as English language schools for the teaching of English as a foreign language, and as such comply with the stringent requirements of this body in relation to teachers, courses and school premises.


 

English UK is the national association of accredited English language centres. Formed in 2004 from two previous associations (the Association of Recognised English Language Services and the British Association of State English Language Teaching), they have around 400 member centres in private schools, educational trusts and charities, further education colleges and universities. All members are accredited under the Accreditation UK scheme, which is run in partnership between the British Council and English UK.

They are the world's leading language teaching association. Since 2004 they have established themselves as the voice of the UK English language teaching sector and now work with a wide range of partners and stakeholders worldwide to represent the interests of the English language profession.
