Q.Am I allowed to find work in Derry?
A. You are only legally allowed to work 20Hours per week on a Student Visa. Foyle always recommends that students main concentration should be on study.Q.Do I need a Visa to go to N.Ireland?
A. It depends what country you are traveling from. If you are a EU national you do not require a Visa, all other countries require a Visa. Please note that Derry is in N.Ireland and classed as the UK therefore you will require a UK Visa.Q.Does Foyle help with finding jobs?
A. No.We are not a job agency we provide language training. However we do have a notice board for students and we post any part-time work on this board.
Q.Does Foyle help with getting visas?
A. No.We are not a Visa office and we are not able to give advice on this matter. It is up to the individuals to go through their own visa office.
We provide the letter of acceptance on the course and in very specific situations we liaise with visa offices.
Q.How do I find accomodation?
A. Foyle provides you with assistance on this whether is Home stay, rent a room, or University campus accommodation.Longer term students usually have 4 weeks of host family accommodation and then Foyle will assist the student to find self catering accommodation.
Q.What is a Host Family?
A. This is also called a Home Stay accommodation. It is full board with an Irish family. Students get maxium opportunity to speak English. It is the most popular type of accommodation. Students are matched with family depending on age, interests etc. We have had many families with us since the school started. The families are sure to give you a warm Irish welcome and are an integral part of the whole experience. We have many different types of families some of these would be; young couples with no children, older couples with 2 or more children, retired couples with older children at University and Irish mums that live alone. All provide a unique experience..Q.What type of weather should I expect in Ireland?
A. The climate is very changeable. It is mainly a cold climate particularly from October - Feb. In the Summer Months June, July and August the weather is mild with many sunshine periods.You should never expect one day to stay the same in terms of weather you just don't know for sure in Ireland. We would recommend you to have an umbrella as there is always rain no mater what season.
Q.Where exactly is Derry situated in Ireland?
